The Skinny

Gentleman's Equity is dedicated to the idea that there is greater value to being a Man than monetary wealth can dictate. If there exists an object, ideal, or an action that is paramount to the definition of a gentleman's character, the value of money can not be placed on it. This grander worth is known as Gentleman's Equity.

Purpose of 'Toys'

"The only difference between men and boys, is the price of their toys". OK, it's true. When I was 10 I wanted LEGOs. 15, a custom computer. 24, a Cartier watch. Toys bridge the gaps between the different pages of my blog. They may be Spirits, Clothes, Autos, or even Buildings, but they all stem from the drive to express ourselves through material objects. There in lies the rump. Some will argue that our material objects own us, I personally think this is true. However, the goal of our toys should be held to a slightly higher purpose, a true expression of who we are. A fair example of this was I was talking to my best friend one day about skeleton watches. For those that don't know, these are completely mechanical (non-battery) watches, with all of the gears exposed behind the glass (or sapphire). My argument was that I whole heartily appreciate the massive craft and engineering that goes into making one of these watches. I am a big fan of mathematics when applied to engineering, as well as the delicate micro-scaled touch necessary to construct these complications. He stated that it was a fair argument, but it had a flaw, I liked it when people noticed my skeleton watch. Alas, he was right. So with a 50/50 split my watch is an expression of me, and it in turn, owns a part of how I define myself. The important thing to remember is, if someone pulls out a gun and tells me to hand it over, there isn't an ounce of me that won't throw it and run like hell.
