The Skinny

Gentleman's Equity is dedicated to the idea that there is greater value to being a Man than monetary wealth can dictate. If there exists an object, ideal, or an action that is paramount to the definition of a gentleman's character, the value of money can not be placed on it. This grander worth is known as Gentleman's Equity.

How to properly get pickled.

I read an op-ed piece in the Times one day that irritated me. It was my own fault, they wrote the disclaimer is in the damn section title "Opinion-Editorial". This particular article was from a woman who was irritate with the reviving trend of mixology in the United States. It irritated me because as much as she tried to class the article up, her argument was that sometimes people just want to drink alcohol and she found it hard to find vodka cranberry at nice bars. I was raised with my father's theory that if he found me passed out, under age, with a bottle of 21 year old scotch and a smile he would play loud music and put on all the lights in the house to teach me a lesson (considerably worse if it had been his scotch). But if he found me passed out with a case of Coors, he would hit me, then turn on the music and the lights. Growing up I was taught to drink for taste, not lack there of. I probably spent as much money as any other guy in college on alcohol, but I drank better, had less severe hang overs, and never woke up with a guy that the night before I though was a girl. I believe in mixology, well crafted beer, and superior straight booze. So raise your glass to drinking with class, trust me it tastes better. On a related note, if money and image plague you, Rittenouse Rye is $20 a bottle, and one of the manliest drinks out there. Cheap, manly, and damn fine tasting whiskey. Screw the hokey pokey, that's what its all about.
